The I64 MADI Card from RME is an optional interface card that provides both the eight-channel Micstasy microphone preamp, and the ADI-8 QS AD/DA converter, with sixty-four channels of MADI input and output, and features optical and coaxial MADI I/O. The input automatically switches operation according to which input detects a valid input signal, ensuring full redundancy in the event of loss of input signal. Both outputs operate in parallel to the regular AES/EBU and ADAT output of the two units and deliver exactly the same data. The MADI input will operate as an optional clock source as well as a throughput. Since each Micstasy or ADI-8 QS uses only eight channels, up to fifty-six channels can be passed through, allowing for serial cascading of up to eight units. Incoming MADI data is passed through unchanged, with only one block of eight channels being replaced. All sixty-four combined channels are available at the last device's MADI output. The card also allows for remote control of the units via the MADI stream.
